Crystal Cold, formerly known as Crystal Distribution Services of Waterloo, Iowa, completed a $21 million state-of-the-art food refrigerated warehouse expansion in January of 2023. Crystal Cold has provided industry-leading refrigerated warehousing solutions in the Midwest for the past 40 years. With a wide range of USDA-approved storage and processing services, Crystal Cold caters to small family-owned businesses as well as large international food companies.

The 2023 expansion added 100,000 sq. ft. of food-grade refrigerated space, including a 25,000 sq. ft. processing room, along with new freezer, cooler, defrost, and office/welfare space. With this project, Crystal Cold added up to 75 high-quality positions to the Cedar Valley area.

Looking ahead, Crystal Cold is proud to announce its next major expansion: a new 40,000 sq. ft. freezer, scheduled for completion in 2026. This upcoming project is designed to meet growing customer demand and strengthen our commitment to operational excellence. The new facility will feature advanced freezing technologies, energy-efficient systems, reduce environmental impact, and support long-term growth. Once complete, this expansion will further position Crystal Cold as a regional leader in cold storage and temperature-controlled logistics, while also contributing additional jobs and economic impact to the Cedar Valley.
